FBCS PRESIDENT, The polytechnic Ibadan
FBCS President, TPI
Truth be told, some people worth being celebrated, their actions and contributions to humanity has earned them great personality and success steps to trail. It's for this reason that explorenceblog has decided to celebrate some worthwhile people in that way we can .

This week, we have chosen an outstanding personality as the FACULTY PRESIDENT OF THE WEEK. This week, our faculty president of the week is the President of the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

Below is the interview with him:

Explorenceblog: Can we meet you?

FBCS President: I AM PHILLIPS OLUWASEGUN SUNKANMI

Explorenceblog: What other information would you like us to know about you?

FBCS President: MY NAME HAS BEEN MENTIONED BUT IN ADDITION PEOPLE CALL ME POS

Explorenceblog: Can you tell us a little about your background?

FBCS President: I am the last child of my parents out of 5 children. I was born in the early 1990's into the family of Mr and Mrs Phillips, my dad (of blessed memory) was a Soldier and my mum (also of blessed memory) was a teacher. I attended Local Government Primary school in Mushin, Lagos and my junior secondary education in Birch Freeman Junior high school while my SSCE was obtained in Ayetoro Snr. Grammar School, Lagos Mainland, after which I proceeded to the great citadel of learning, The Polytechnic, Ibadan for my National Diploma and presently in the same citadel of excellence for my Higher National Diploma which I am currently in my final year of the programme.

Explorenceblog: As a student of The Polytechnic Ibadan, how easy or difficult has it been to pull through?

FBCS President: Thanks, there is a saying that goes thus "nothing good comes easily" on this saying I would say it has not been easy as a student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan not to talk me combining academics activities and services to humanity (my fellow students) as the faculty president but with full focus and hard work I am very sure that it will definitely end easily.

Explorenceblog: How do you find combining education with politics?

FBCS President: Like I said earlier it is not an easy task combining education with politics but I am combining it and still finding it easy because this is just a learning process. The school is not to teach or impact students academically alone but with additional skills which can make you relevant outside academic activities.

Explorenceblog: What were the challenges you faced before, during and after election?

FBCS President: Thank you, this is students environment which is almost the same thing with the outside politics, threats from students, demands for money for a single vote and missing of lectures and test during the period of campaign. During the election my mind wasn't coupled because of fear of what might come after the election but I have a saying that goes thus "He who is afraid of defeat is sure of failure" though losing shouldn't have been a challenging factor but as a human being you must do that and lastly, after the election I faced just one challenge from students demanding for things to get like we've voted you in now take us to a cafeteria and let's chill but curbing that is just a matter of points and calming words.

Explorenceblog: Who do you give the credit of your victory at the election to?

FBCS President: Thank you sir, all the Doxology is given to God and is still being given to my able God and will forever be given to God.

Explorenceblog: What are your challenges in office so far?

FBCS President: The challenges are numerous but to mention few,the first one is the attitude of students towards the payment of the Association annual due and another thing is the demand from students on projects to be done which comes in different directions but which we can only achieve few because we can't do them all.

Explorenceblog: Gist us about some of the achievements you've made so far in office?

FBCS President: Thank you sir, if I want to mention my achievements so far so good I would trace it to where I started as my departmental president during my ND in The Polytechnic, Ibadan which the achievements were numerous although the just suspended strike action has retrenched how far I ought to have worked since my inception as the Faculty president but so far so good I have indulged myself in conjunction with the Students' Union Government of the institution finding solutions to some problems faced by the students and also I have been able to work on the welfarism and cordial relationship within the students of the Faculty but lots of achievements are to be watched out for.

Explorenceblog: What do you have in stock for Faculty of Business and Communication Studies, that is, what should students expect?

FBCS President: Thank you sir, my stock is loaded with lots of goodies so to say for the good students of FABCOMSSA apart from the projects like Orientation, ID Card, Souvenir and FABCOMSSA DAY some of which are Workshop, Seminar, Oratory Contest where great minds would meet and involve in education battle, also educating Excursion where they can discover new knowledge, and also to bring a fully loaded with fun Social week because all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Explorenceblog: What is your vision?

FBCS President: My vision is to bring about transformation of FABCOMSSA for it to be a pace setter

Explorenceblog: What's your philosophy of life?

FBCS President: I adapt to new situation.

Explorenceblog: If you're in the capacity to help humanity, what exactly will you do to contribute your quota?

FBCS President: Thank you sir, I can do all in my capacity to help when comes to helping people, I have engaged myself in a struggle against the extortion of students which happened during my ND days when the SUG was suspended but as a departmental president I stood gallantly not minding the consequences that might come afterwards to consult the management and the aim of the struggle was actualized.

Explorenceblog: Is there any woman who's fueling your vision?

FBCS President: Thanks so much, the woman who had fueled my vision did that a decade ago and that's my late mother but her fuel hasn't dried up because the fuel is still influencing my vision.

Explorenceblog: Any message to students of FBCS?

FBCS President: My message for them is to stay focused and shouldn't give room for discouragement because I was discouraged to learn a trade rather than going to school when I gained admission into The Polytechnic, Ibadan but I was determined to go for success. I will also want them to always have positive thoughts towards life come rain or sunshine, I was promoted on trial to SS 3 but not giving room for discouragement or negativity, I won the award of The Most Outstanding Academic Best Student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan during my ND pursuance. My stand is that everything good is possible when you have positive thoughts.
Positivity is my watch word.
