Below is the interview Explorenceblog's correspondence had with the new president of the Students Union Government, The Polytechnic of Ibadan, Comrade Kuyoro Olumuyiwa Emmanuel, after the swearing in programme which held today, 18th of August at the Assembly Hall, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
ExplorenceBlog: Can we meet you sir?
TPI SUG President: I'm Comrade Kuyoro Olumuyiwa Emmanuel from Department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Financial Management Studies, HND 1.
ExplorenceBlog: How has been your stay in The Polytechnic, Ibadan?
TPI SUG President: My stay in school has been wonderful though filled with challenges. Since even the country faces challenges, so, it's a general problem but it is however a good drill.
ExplorenceBlog: How were you able to pull through the stress and demands of election?
TPI SUG President: sincerely, it was tough and a huge one. But I give glory to God for his help. It's not easy being a studentband contesting for a post, moving from halls to halls and meeting both students who like you and those who don't. However, God really helped me.
ExplorenceBlog: How do you feel as the new SUG President of The Polytechnic, Ibadan?
TPI SUG President: I feel normal, I neither feel superior or inferior. I'm still the person I have always been. Nothing has changed in me.
ExplorenceBlog: So, what should students of the Polytechnic, Ibadan expect from this administration?
TPI SUG President: Well, I wouldn't want to make a promise now. Many leaders promise and fail to do as they have promised, then it becomes a curse to them. I believe I will work effectively and people will commend me for what I have done.
ExplorenceBlog: How do you plan establishing and maintaining relationship with the Legislative arm?
TPI SUG President: Hmmm. The life we are in is a game of playing the right cards the right way. The legislative arm is to checkmate the executive. They are there for us to do the right thing. Though, fights may come because it's inevitable but we'll settle it amicably, if any?
ExplorenceBlog: How have you been coping with greetings and advances from those trying to move close to the new president?
TPI SUG President: I believe it's normal, one just have to meet people because one is there because of them, one just needs to define him/herself.
ExplorenceBlog: So, what principles, beliefs and policies guide you?
TPI SUG President: I do not believe in violence. I believe solutions are meant for problems. I am also in the know that I am humble and sincere with my dealings. I am as well a social person.
ExplorenceBlog: How have you planned or being going about blending academics with political responsibilities?
TPI SUG President: Actually, it has not been easy so far. Exams are around the corner. I have missed a lot in class, but I know God will see me through.
ExplorenceBlog: what's your message to students out there?
TPI SUG President: In life, when you give service to people, your expectation is either reward or service. I want the management and the generality of students to support me as I pledge my maximum support as well. Their support to me is what keeps me going.
